Wash Day: 3/10/12

Well today was not my usual wash day, but I am getting my hair cornrowed tomorrow. I have decided to keep my hair braided underneath my wigs. Anywho, so I decided to wash and DC today bc I will attempt to stretch my wash days to every two weeks while getting the braids.

So I parted my hair in 4 sections.

Cowashed with Mizani Moisturfuse, applying the conditioner section by section, working it into my hair and onto my scalp.
I then rinsed it out, section by section.
Towel blotted dry, section by section.
Applied Mizani Fulfyl Conditioning Treatment, section by section.
I kept my hair parted in the cross and sectured each section with a bobby pin.
Place two plastic caps and went to sleep (4 hours)
Woke up, rinsed it out, section by section.
Applied Mizani D'Tangle leave in, section by section.
Followed by Paul Mitchell Super Skinny.

my plan was to air dry but because I had to rush off to work I decided to blow dry.
Results:
Washing in sections did make it easier to access my scalp without tangling it so much.
Keeping it in sections throughout the entire process made it so much easier overall.
Usually after washing, my hair is so tangled that I can't even section it off to detangle effeciently. But this wash day was simply a pleasure overall!!! I will definetly be implementing this routine into my regimen.
My hair was easily detangled with minimum breakage, and left shiny and fabulous!!!

Here are a few random texture shots; as I am 11 weeks post!

Look of the Week 1/29-2/4

All this week, I have rocked a braid out!! Here are the steps.

Parted hair in sections.
Moisturized using Kimmaytubes moisturizer.
Applied Paul Mitchell Supper Skinny.

Parted hair in desired style that I would want the braids to fall.
Braided in small braids, about 20 braids, using ecostyler gel with each braid.

Slept in braids overnight, and unraveled in the AM.

I re-braid them every night before going to bed...reapplying the product every other night. So far so good!

Here are the results:

All you need is:

1.Jumbo braid hair ( i used 2 bags)

Before The Journey Began

------------------------------

This is my hair in 07, I was in nursing school. Still never really took CARE of my hair, but this is also before I put color or wore extentions. This is the longest my hair has ever been. SL.

This is in 08, feeling bored, I decided to do this HORRID assym bob!!!

This is later in 08 after trying to color my own hair:-( The color didnt turn out right, needless to say, and so I but in a rinse and got more of it chopped off!!

(excuse the crossed eyes...I was being silly) This is in 09...I got it colored professionally...(still hadn't learned) As short as it is, I have extensions on the sides, to add volume, it was hella thin and broken off so uneven...It wouldn't look decent without the extensions (which were GLUED in!!!)

This is is early 2010, me without extensions trying to style my hair in a way that it looked decent...this is the best I could do...ughhh...couple of relaxers later...the color now dull.

This is early this year 2011...right before my last cut.

Last cut in LIFE!!! Lol March 2011!!!

And this was taken last month (3 months post relaxer) Flat Ironed (Instyler, new growth bumped)

Give Myself A Hand Clap!!!

So I just ran across this pic which was taken in April this year....I hadn't done much to my head since then so I hadn't noticed that even from then up to know I have gained a lot of my length back!! IDK whether to say my hair grows fast or not, but I am pleased with its growth rate before my HHJ, so that only makes me even more excited to watch its growth now that I am on my journey!!!

*Oh btw I had just finished working out thats why Im so sweaty!

Look Of The Day & An "Ah Ha" Moment

Soooo I had a lazy day :-/ When I got home from work I moistrized and sealed my hair...also I massaged my scalp, but I was too lazy to re-twist it, so I just threw on the bonnet....woke up for work, moisturized again and threw it in a sloppy bun!!!
You can't really see it in the pic but I have two 2 strand twist criss crossing up in the back...just to be creative.

My HHJ has truly lifted my self esteem. I remember when I felt obligated to wear weave to look decent...but here I am 15-16 weeks post relaxer and 3 weeks post weave!! (thats on a daily basis, like work, shopping ect) I still wear wigs to parties and such...but I am so happy...It just feels good to be taking care of my hair, so what if it isn't "fly or flashy" it is on its way to restored health, and most importantly IT IS NOT NAPPY!!! LOL My aunt ran her fingers threw my twist out the other day to be surprised that her fingers did not get caught up or blocked hehehe...I used to feel so plain jane, or uncomfortable if I pulled my own hair back because it wasn't long or exciting, but today I'm just having an "ah ha" moment and can't stay out of the mirror :-)) all is well in the land of hair!!! I just have to get back on my water game...I've been slacking.

Lastly I want to thank all of you, my fellow "Hairlistas" for blogging and sharing your journey, if it wasn't for me stumbling upon your blogs, I would not have the motivation or education...and I'd still be in a rut...Our hair truly is our crown...OUR hair...not the indian's hair or horses lol and I'm not knocking weave, bc I am a former weave-ologist...lol but still take care of your hair underneath. Caring for my hair now has changed my whole world, and i am NOT over exaggerating.
In MY HEALTHY HAIR JOURNEY'S blog she states that she is "Loving her hair!" When I 1st saw her blog and saw her length, I assumed that is why she loved her hair...who wouldn't, and I thought, I can't wait until my hair grows, and I can love my hair too lol....As stated before I am about 15 weeks post relaxer, new to this journey, haven't even been a month in, no length checks or any of that and I can truly say that I am loving my hair!!!! I feel so foolish to embark this journey so late, but better late than never...and if it wasn't for you ladies, I still wouldn't know which way to go...as the saying goes "When you know better, you do better"
Hope you all had a good morning, afternoon, and evening...nighties dolls :-)

Dust Off & Try Again Twist Out 2nd Try

SOOOO I researched more & saw the suggestion to add perm rods to hold the twist & add curl. I also did smaller twist. Sprayed with Hair One frizz Control & Rock Out Scrunch spray & let them stay in over night!!!

First Attempt Results

My 1st attempt I did the 2 min Aphogee conditioning after washing with Hair One & just did the basic twisting as you seen in the first pic.... This is my result. I was satisfied but could have done better...

FIRST TWIST OUT ATTEMPT!!!

My First attempt @ the Twist Out!!!!
