Wash Day: 3/10/12

Well today was not my usual wash day, but I am getting my hair cornrowed tomorrow. I have decided to keep my hair braided underneath my wigs. Anywho, so I decided to wash and DC today bc I will attempt to stretch my wash days to every two weeks while getting the braids.

So I parted my hair in 4 sections.

Cowashed with Mizani Moisturfuse, applying the conditioner section by section, working it into my hair and onto my scalp.
I then rinsed it out, section by section.
Towel blotted dry, section by section.
Applied Mizani Fulfyl Conditioning Treatment, section by section.
I kept my hair parted in the cross and sectured each section with a bobby pin.
Place two plastic caps and went to sleep (4 hours)
Woke up, rinsed it out, section by section.
Applied Mizani D'Tangle leave in, section by section.
Followed by Paul Mitchell Super Skinny.

my plan was to air dry but because I had to rush off to work I decided to blow dry.
Results:
Washing in sections did make it easier to access my scalp without tangling it so much.
Keeping it in sections throughout the entire process made it so much easier overall.
Usually after washing, my hair is so tangled that I can't even section it off to detangle effeciently. But this wash day was simply a pleasure overall!!! I will definetly be implementing this routine into my regimen.
My hair was easily detangled with minimum breakage, and left shiny and fabulous!!!

Here are a few random texture shots; as I am 11 weeks post!

In To Deep!!!

So the longer I am on my HHJ, the more I learn. I came into this reading other regimens, and I started with the basics, which nothing is wrong with that...but I would wash, moisturize and seal...that was about it...I would carefully detangle, wear protective styles, and take my growth aids...and would DC when I felt the need to.

I had a regimen so to say but it was for starters...I've had progress...

but now its time to up the anti and become a bit more detailed.
I have joined the Castor Oil Challenge...and today I youtubed to see HOW to apply the castor oil...bc I did it lazily and felt no results....

So I went to my BSS found some hair clips (they are SO cute...big, pink & glittery) anyway, I parted my hair in 4 sections (BTW this is after a wash with V05 Clarifying conditioner and a 30 min DC with Shea Moisture Masque, clipped each section... leaving the one section I was working on out, I parted with my fingers and applied the castor oil on my scalp...I did the effortlessly and in no time!!! Afterwards, I flat ironed it...per section...and that was quick and easy as well!!!!! I am slow but I never realized how convenient the clips made things...I usueally just tried to run the oil on my scalp by digging through the hair, or steady parting off sections and rubber banding the rest...

This just showed me tho I was headed in the right direction, that I haven't quiet reached perfecting my reggie...and I am loving learning along the way.

My hair is no SUPER STUPID SOFT!!! I wrapped it up, put on a wig cap and threw my wig back on.

I will wash again on Wednesday with Hair One and use my Aphogee conditioner...

ANY TIPS ON HOW I CAN HAVE MY HAIR AIR DRY STRAIGHT?? WITH OUT THE FRIZZIES???
I hate that...it always makes me feel like my ends are ratchet!!

HAIR CHALLENGE!!!!!!

So I haven't posted in a few days, mainly because I was wearing the twist out, oiling and moisturizing daily, nothing much to update on that. So today my hair felt dry, so I decided to wash it with HAIR ONE which puts my hair in like hair heaven!!! I LOVE IT!!!! It makes my normally coarse hair so smooth and my new growth, which I have about an inch and a half of,very manageable. I was really enjoying the twist outs, and wearing my real hair...when I ran upon a 6 month hair challenge on blackhairmedia.com.
This is the link:

Rules are to hide your hair length from now until December, given a hair break every two months I think!

I am already 3 months post and I planned on relaxing in October, but I love the sound of a challenge, if I can go through with it this will actually put me at 9 months post!! I am super excited about it!!!

So I washed with HAIR ONE & DC with Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructer, afterwards I used 3 squirts of the HAIR ONE as a leave in conditioner, just because I loved how soft my hair was after the wash!!!..... I let it air dry, then I moisturized with Optimums 3 in 1 moisturizer, and sealed with Roots of Nature Shea Butter Green Tea Oil <---- Does that count as the sealing oil you guys refer to such a jojoba, coconut, olive, ect?? Or do I need to buy another oil. I just had that before my HHJ, so I just used it...anywhoo I brushed it back in a pony tail and put on a drawstring afro puff ponytail!! No gel, no jam, no nothing 3 months post perm, I'd say this is pretty alright:-)

Hair Journal Entry 1

So today I went and got more supplies, all inexpensive drug store products for now, since I hadn't really prepared for this, but excited to care for my hair NOW!!!

So I went and got V05 for a co-wash, altho my ultimate goal is to switch to WEN or Hair One. I've heard good about Hair One, a cheaper alternative to WEN, so I will see if Hair One works for me 1st. Hopefully it will.

I also got more Roots of Nature Shea Butter Oil, I've been using that and I like it. I can use it to seal.

I also have Optimum Oil Therapy 3-in-1 Oil Moisturizer, will try this as a moisturizer because Roots of Nature, moisturizer left my hair feeling really heavy and greasy. IDK maybe I put to much on it.

I'm really trying to pay attention to my hair now.

So I co washed today with the V05, and moisterized, & sealed. I also mixed all of that in a spary bottle with spring water just to mist as needed.

I had to work tonight tho so I couldn't leave it out, so I braided it. I know having 4A hair is fragile, and I hated having to braid it wet because I could literally feel some of my shafts breaking :-(

So I do not plan on co-washing again until Sunday. So I will leave my braids alone until then, unless oiling scalp or misting.

But I will say also that afterwards, my hair/head felt so light and tingly and just happy. I guess from the new found attention. Usually I just lay around the house all day, hair all over my head, throw it in a short pony and toss a wig on it. It would be dry, brittle...I just didn't care :-(. She was a happy head today :-)

I plan on getting long box braids pretty soon, so I can just leave my hair alone and let it grow.

My HAIR!!!!!!

The picture on the left is a picture of me a few months ago, before I considered a regimen. It's about 2-4 weeks post relaxer (and salon servicing) meaning my hair probably hadn't been washed in that long.

The picture to your right is the beginning of my regimen, well my care. This is before I really had any products so this is just a wash with Motions neutralizing shampoo, Deep condition with Roots of Nature w/ Shae Butter, as well as moturizing...I did not have any oil, so I sealed it with BB Oil Sheen.
