Valentine's Day Hair!!!!

So some of you may be aware that I had special plans for Valentine's Day, which also included getting my hair professionally done, as I never allow anyone to do my hair.  Soooo any I washed my hair the night before, detangled it in the shower....it turned into this:
A mess right, so I moisturized it, sealed it, and just tossed it into a bun. Well when I got to the beautician, I learned that she would be working out of her home, which to me was no problem, as long as I look equally as fabulous right???

Well being at her house, of course she had to wash my hair  in her sink....I should have just opted out of the washing, but I requested a "Silk Out", which someone explained to me as having to use certain products, so I assumed that she had to wash my hair with her products specifically for a silk out....no such thing.  I guess us country folk, refer to a "Blow Out" as a "Silk Out", because that is what I got.... but back to my rambling...I  got a bit confused/embarrased because she seemed to be having a hard time combing through it ...and so she asked "Did you not detangle it?" This was after, she had washed it in the sink...."Uhmmmm Yea, I detangled it yesterday after washing it." Of course, I did just toss it  in a bun and perhaps it  became a bit tangled by that, but also didn't I just hold my head upside down under a sink? Would that not cause it to tangle a bit?

Her attempts at detangling, was not with a wide tooth comb...I mean I know that no one will treat your hair the way that you do....but still I was a bit troubled by that....I felt like my hair was hurting :-(  I felt like....I always do, when I let others do my hair...lol "This will definitely result in a set back"
I'm just paranoid.

Also....WE (Hairlistas) know not to really manipulate the hair while it is soaking wet, beauticians of course being pressed for time just GO...so that was pretty nerve wrecking...then as it gets a bit drier, she says "The more it dries the easier it is to comb through...." NO DUHHHHHH.... but I can't say that can I?

Anywho...after the blowing out process...Which I will say...that I am not bashing the beautician at all. I realize that when I blow my own hair out, I even recieve some sort of breakage (hair on the floor)... and I just know how to manipulate my own hair...of course even better than a beautician who's first time is touching my hair...when I do it weekly!

Anyway, after that was over, the straightening part was a breeze. No complaints....well there is one, she did put some serum on my hair, for frizziness, I did not see that it said anything about thermal protection. She then suggested that I do the same, flat iron on "naked" hair so that, it will be light and flowy..... I can try to omit the moisturizer, perhaps I am a bit product heavy on my hair, maybe I can spritz with a leave in conditioner and then seal with Grapeseed oil, lightly applied, since Grapeseed oil is a heat protectant in itself.

Anywho, down to the nitty gritty...after my hair was done ...I of course had NO complaints!!!!

Hubster and I went and took  pictures outside, the wind was blowing and my hair was allll over the place, it probably wouldn't have hurt to be a bit weighed....is there such thing as too soft...it wouldn't even hold any curls!! But as I said before, I had no complaints! My last relaxer was in November, but she had me feeling like I had a fresh BONE straight perm! WOOP WOOP!

Here are a few pics from Valentine's Day <3

We took professional photos, then went to dinner, and ended the night with painting!! It was a lovely day if I must say so! I am soooo late writing this post, but thanks for reading anyway :-*

HeatLESS Curls!

Soooo apparently I suck! No updates what so ever...BUT I kinda have a good reason :-)
I was enjoying my hair...for pretty much the entire month of Feburary, my hair was straight...when it is straightened, I do very little to it....no washing of course, and very minimal product usage.

I was however beginning to become bored with my hair, as it is either in a braid out or bone straight.
I do not know how to roller set my hair so it is rarely left with any body, when straight. Any who upon searching on Youtube, I learned how to achieve some sexy heat less curls using flexi rods!

I was in hair heaven!!! I re-rolled the curls each night, it was really easy, and most times I did not comb through, finger combing was enough. Anywho, I could have kept it going for ever, but uhhh eventually I had to wash my hair.... and when I did...

It went from this:... to this:.... but that is a whoooole nother post :-)

Hair Blah!!!

I really need to step my game up in the hair department.  My hair "care" has dropped to hair maintenence. In a nutshell I pretty much, cowash and DC weekly. I am sure that I throw in moisture in there as needed and seal, as well as oil the scalp.

But what about the extra stuff:

ACV rinses
Tea rinses
Baggying
Vitamins
GHE'ing and all the sorts.

I mean I do have children so condensing it all is very resonable, but what about the health of my hair opposed to just growing hair? Sure I want long hair, but I want HEALTHY hair!

With that being said, I am making Feburary count!

For Valentine's Day I am getting a Hydrating Steam Treatment and Silk out because my hunny loves my hair straight. I will be sure to note how my hair reacts to the steam treatment as I am up in the air on whether to buy one or not.

I am horrible at taking pills, but I found some chewable Biotin and I think that will be more convenient and aid in my consistency of  taking them. I usually get choked up on pills, or hate having to swallow them, it's complicated. I am hoping for great results with the chew tabs.

Sometime this month I plan on implementing the Inversion Method. I know I have said this before, but I never seem to finish through. I have devised a plan that will hopefully aid in me being able to keep up with the plan.

I also plan to blog more. IDK why, I guess because I am hair lazy and don't do anything special, I rarely have things to blog about but that will change today. I will post every Thursday.

Well here is to getting it together! Any special plans for Valentine's Day, special Hair styles??? SPILL IT ALL HERE!

How To Prep for a Relaxer

No matter the choice of relaxer to use, there has to be certain percautions when choosing to apply a relaxer to your tresses & maintaining healthy hair.

1. Plan you relaxer days.

You don't want to spontaneously relaxer your hair. In doing so, you will more than likely be ill prepared:

No scratching within 24 hours of applying relaxer
No washing withing 72 hours of applying relaxer

These things irritate the scalp, increasing chances of chemical burns. In knowing when you plan to relax you can safely plan your last wash day, and consciously prevent from scratching an itchy scalp.

2. Base your scalp.....Base your pre-relaxed ends.

Why do you base your scalp??? Basically to protect it right? Remember that scene in Chris Rock's "Good Hair", when the sodium hydroxide (active ingredient in lye based hair relaxers) began to break down an aluminium soda can??

Well when we recieve "chemical burns", that is basically what is happening...disturbing right??? That is why we base our scalp, to slow the effects of the relaxer so that it won't break down our skin.... Same applies to the already relaxed ends (or length) of our hair....
ONLY RELAX YOUR NEW GROWTH!!!!

Before my HHJ, I felt as if the entire length needed to be relaxed. NO!! Once you relax it, it is PERManent, no need to over process it, it leads to thin, broken, brittle, and split ends.

With that being said, like you base your scalp by putting an oil coating over it before relaxing, do the same to the ends of your hair. Basing  your length, prevents the relaxer to over process your already processed hair.

3. One week prior to OR One week after relaxing your hair, perform a hard protein treatment.

How does relaxers work? By breaking down the protein bonds in your hair. By performing a protein treatment one week prior, your are strengthening your hair in preparation to it being broken down, ensuring maximum strength to withstand the effects of the relaxer.

Some may perform a hard protein treatment one week after getting a relaxer to reinforce the protein that the relaxer has broken down.

There is no right or wrong answer, then there are those that choose to do a hard protein treatment before AND after.

4. Totally optional: Perform MEDIUM protein treatment IMMEDIATELY after RINSING the relaxer out BUT BEFORE neutralizing your hair.

That means, you apply the relaxer...let it sit anywhere between 15-25 minutes, hop in the shower, rinse it out thoroughly....APPLY A MEDIUM PROTEIN TREATMENT (I use Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor).... let it sit a minute or two...rinse it out, then proceed to neutralize shampoo your tresses.

The science behind this is that your hair follicals are wide open, ready to take in all the goodies it can recieve after it has been subjected to the chemicals of a relaxer. Applying protein at this point, creates stronger and fuller (and happier) hair.

Choosing to relax your hair is not choosing thin, unhealthy hair, it just means that it takes a bit extra love to ensure that your tresses stay as healthy as possible. Outside of relaxer preparation and care, be sure to stay on top of moisture and maniplation/protection check & you are on your way to a thick, healthy loveable head of "Perfect Tresses" :-)

Healthy relaxed hair is SO possible!!! Thank you for reading :-)

Product Review: Liquid Gold Sulfur Based Hair Growth Oil

Hey lovies!!!! Today's review will be on Liqiud Gold. This product is available at Amazon.com & can be found at LiquidGoldHairProducts.com. I got the 4oz for $9.95 + shipping probably took it to $13 I think. There is also an 8oz for $16.

Shipping was pretty quick! I ordered on Thursday night & had it by that following Tuesday.

There are some complaints about the smell, to me it smells minty. I have no problem with it, my husband HATES it.

The consistency is a bit thin/runny so a little goes a looong way. I just take the nozzle, squirt in a few areas, then. Massage my scalp to distribute it all over.

The suggested regimen says to protective style & apply the oil every other day.

I do apply it every other day, but did not protective style.  On to what you guys are most interested in...
Did it help any??? Did it work??
The pic on the left was right after my trim on October 8, the pic on the right was yesterday! I think it's safe to say that it works & is very well worth it!!

NHR: #TeamFit

Ok so yall know that I just had a baby....HER IS 4 MONSH OLD NOW (that is my poor version of baby talk written out)

Well the last picture is the whole crew. The 3 boys are mine, the older girl is my little sister, lol, just turned 7....my oldest son is 7 :-/ He'll be 8 in January lol, she just turned 7 last week. Anyway there is a look at Paisley and her crew, now on to the point lol.

Needless to say, I am trying to get back in shape. Well I only gained like 22 lbs during the pregnancy, all of which I have lost...but my weight seems to be teeter-tottering...I am now 157....it seems that I will get down to 153, and get stuck -_-....So I know I have to push myself harder when I get back down to 153...Oh yea...I get stuck at 153, then hop back up to 157 some kinda way lol.

With that being said, not only do I want to lose weight, but I want to transform my body to look a way that it never has before, athletic.  I know it will take a lifestyle change, one that I am not completely ready for, but is willing to try.

Now that I say all of that I will say that I am on Day 3 of T25 with Shawn T. T25 is series of workouts developed by Shawn T. each workout is 25 minutes long, but extremely intense!!!

My initial reaction to Days 1 and 2 were "huh...this is feasible, it works you without defeating you." Well on to day Day 3...I WAS DEMOLISHED!!!!!

I will admit that Total Body Circuit (Day 3) was a killer! I had to do A LOT of the modified versions and I felt like a little bitch lol. I was tired, out of breath, and I wanted to quit! But I had to remind myself that just because I am not perfect at it, does not give me the right to quit. If I try, I can only get better...If I quit, I will never get better...Literally had to prep talk myself through it the entire time.

I will do updates ehhh every week or every two weeks. If I find myself slacking then I will update weekly just to motivate myself to go harder. If I am doing pretty well, I will update bi-weekly hopefully to show some progress :-)

My goal for December is just to remain consistent with T25!!!
This is me now (taken on Dec 1)...hopefully you will see a smaller version in 2 weeks :-)
