Inversion Method Results & Other Updates!

Well uhmmm probably evident by late posting, I kinda got busy. I have been juggling a lot. I am on a 30 days, no days off, fitness challenge, working, school, and of course home life. Anywho I messed around and skipped 2 days of the inversion method, so I just stopped and thought I would try again, next month. I didn't want to do it immediately bc I don't want to risk my scalp getting used to it. So no 1 in of growth for me...in fact, I did my 2nd major trim, took a little over an inch off.
No worries! I am not the least bit sad. I know have my hair tucked away, now protective styling up until the end of the Castor Oil Challenge, focusing on keeping my hair moisturized, and performing protien treatments once a month. So excited about this growth and health I am about to achieve

Also just wanted to share my pony tail journey :-)

Grow 1 inch in 1 week!!!

That is right, 1 inch in 1 week!! Now if this works, IDK.  I am on day two of seven. What's the big idea??? Keep reading to find out!!!

The Inversion Method

1. Warm your favorite oil.
2. Massage oil into scalp.
3. Turn head upside down for 4 minutes.
4. Repeat for 7 consecutive days.

Sounds easy right? I doubt if I will heat my oil everyday just because I am lazy :-/ Maybe every other day.

My Plan.

1. Alternate between massaging in Grapeseed Oil and Castor Oil (as I am in the CO Challenge)
2. Massaging, focusing on the nape, as that's where I have recieved some breakage
3. No, I will not be doing a head stand, but instead the bend forward yoga pose for 4 minutes

If this works, this should land me at BSL by NEXT WEEK!!!! (Fingers crossed). Anywho, I shall keep you loves updated. If this works, I will implement this method as apart of my Castor Oil challenge regimen and do this once a month for the next 3 months.
I have taken a before picture, but I will not post it until next Friday, along with the results picture.

You don't want to do this more than 7 days in a row or too often throughout the month. If you scalp gets used to this blood flow, it may cause you to plateau and no longer get the desired results.
Imagine walking through a land fill or sewage...stinks something bad right?
But if you stand there long enough, the receptors inside your nose becomes used to the smell and you soon realize that you don't even smell it anymore. That is what will happen if your scalp becomes accustomed to that blood flow, it won't be as receptive to hair growth as it was before.

DISCLAIMER!!!!
Also anyone who may be intrested in trying this, I would not suggest this if you have blood pressure issues or any other medical diagnosis in which could be effected by this. Also make sure you rise slowly from whatever bending or upside down position that you have chosen.

Products That I Use On My Hair Journey

I have been on my hair journey for a little over 2 years now. I have made it from NL to APL, one thing that I have learned is that, as my hair changes, it's needs have as well; therefore, my products will change.

I used to LOOOOOOOOOVE V05 Clarifying Conditioner, I am not sure if it's since my hair has gotten longer, or more texlaxed, but I have found myself needing a more creamy, more thick, cowash. So I have sadly had to say RIP, to my V05.

With that being said, here is a list of products that I currently use, being APL.

Relaxers

ORS Professionals- I love all ORS products, this relaxer leaves texture, and isn't so strong that it burns, despite following instructions....I have experienced that.

Hawaiian Silky- ORS is my fav, but I have used Hawaiian Silky when my local BSS is out of ORS. For me, Hawaiian Silky does not burn my scalp, but it does tend to get my hair straighter than I like it to be in a short amount of time.

Deep Conditioners

Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Treatment- I LOOOOOOE This conditioner. It detangles like that of a god and leaves my hair feeling well moisturized and strong.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle- This is an excellent DC, especially to be a quickie job and cheapie!!!! It has a thck creamy consistency and leaves my hair super moisturized.

 CoWash

Aussie Miraculously Smooth- Since becoming APL, my hair has so begun to love this condish! It is thick, creamy, and really moisturizes your hair!

AsIAm CoWash- I only listed this because as of right now, I am using this. However, I don't plan on re-purchasing it. It is too thin for me, and doesn't have a "wow factor".

Leave In Conditioner

Aussie Hair Insurance; This leave in is EVERYTHING!

Moisturizers

ORS Hair Lotion:  I use 1-2x a week

Mizani Over night Treatment: Alternates with ORS Hair Lotion

S Curl No Drip: Use as an as needed spritzer.

Oils

Coconut Oil (fav): I use this as a prepoo and add to my moisturizers, as it can penetrate the hair.

Grapeseed Oil: Use a heat protectant and as a sealant.

Castor Oil: I use this as a growth aid, and currently in the Castor Oil Challenge, I mix with Grapeseed Oil to seal in the moisture.

EVOO: I use for hot oil treatments & or oil rinses, and occassionally to seal with.

My regimen as well as my products are all simple and easily accessible.

Product Review: As I Am Cowash

As I Am Coconut CoWash
"CoWash: To cleanse hair with conditioner, oppose to using shampoo, instilling mosisture, oppose to stripping it with sulfates. (Sulfate free)"

I will start out with the good about this product. It smells like HEAVEN!!!! I reeeeally like the smell. That's about it. It comes in a jar, but would be much more convenient if it came in a bottle or pump. It seems as if the water that drips from your hand, into the jar, would eventually thin the product out.
I actually wish the product was a bit thicker, creamier. Also performance wise it was "meh". I guess it did what it was supposed to do, cleanse with out the sulfates, but I feel like I could have gotten the same results from the Aussie Miraculously Smooth, that I usually cowash with. Would I recommend this product to anyone? No. I am actually disappointed because I was so excited to try it myself! Will I be repurchasing it? No. As stated before, this product cost almost $8 for 16 oz, and I get Aussie Mircaculously Smooth for the same price for 29 oz and it comes in a pump :-). I will however use As I Am up, as it does do the job, just no wow factor, nope nothing special, yummy, or tantalizing.

Product Review: Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Curl Define & Hold

Absolutely love this product!! It has a very soft and sweet smell. Even better it never dissappoints.

How I use it: I usually use it for my braid outs. I do my braid outs on 70-80% dry hair, moisturize, and then appy HE TT to each strand of hair per braid.

Results:

I have used it for bantu knot outs as well. I would definitely be repurchasing when I am out, and will definitely reccomend it to anyone, looking for an affordable and fabulous product. I picked this up from my local Dollar Store, for about $4.

The Braid Out pictured was done on 70% dry hair.
Moisturized with a mix of Aussie Miraculously Smooth, water, & coconut oil.
Parted hair is 4 sections, did 2 braids per section, applying Herbal Esscence Totally Twisted to each section to be braided.
Rolled each braid end with a perm rod.
Allowed the braids to sit for 24 hours, because I have no life!! LOL

The Castor Oil Challenge

The details are on: Hairlista

I will be participating in the:
Ultimate Level *New* :
  • Apply Castor oil to your scalp every other day. Use sparingly. Massage it in. Focus on Damaged areas.
  • Apply 1 tsp of castor oil to your deep conditioner weekly with heat. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Seal your ends with a Castor oil after you moisturize your hair (or mix it in with your usual sealant). Use sparingly.
  •
My damaged area that I will be focusing on is the middle of  my nape area. I often part my hair down the middle and I guess I have recieved some major breakage back there.

I honestly hate having to DC under heat. Typically, I DC overnight bc I am too lazy to hop back in the shower after only 30 minutes of getting out, doing it overnight allows me to rinse it out during my morning shower...buuuut since the rules say to DC with heat, I will suck it up for the next 3 months and "just do it".

The deep conditioners that I will be using are:

Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor: Once per month
CON Argan Oil Intensive Treatment
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
I will be alternating between Creme Of Nature and Aussie

I will be mixing a tad bit of Castor oil with my Coconut Oil for a sealant.

Before Picture:

Hoping to make it to BSL by December 28th!!

Back to Blogging About Hair.

Ok, so now that I have a bit of my life (and energy) back, perhaps I can get back on track with the hair updates! As of now I am 3 months, post relaxer, my plan is to relax again in January. I have no clue how I was styling my hair during the pregnancy, I guess braid outs....

around the end, I got braids...

I kept them in for about a month and a half, and started missing my hair...not only that, I got them too long and they became annoying....so now I am back to braid outs, my go to style.
I set this one on flexi rods.
To be honest, I am a full time student as well, & currently working out, so now working full time, on top of keeping the household, I have to come up with a regimen that will agree with my lifestyle. It will have to be something quick, convenient, and easy!
ONE THING THAT I DO KNOW....I AM SO IN ON THE CASTOR OIL CHALLENGE PART 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
